Year 2003 2004

Wednesday

It's quite nice here in Southern California now. I feel I can really enjoy the day, no matter indoor or outside. I just went to the Annual Fashion Show at Norstrom Department Store two weeks ago. I guess now my dress & make up are all ready for Fall & Winter.

When I was a kid, magic moments were orchestrated by my parents. But now that I'm an adult, I have to create my own. Be a mommy of the 3 kids, I just have to be triple more creative to keep our kids busy. October will be a fun & busy month. We have to celebrate Charles, our eldest boy's 7 years old birthday & myself birthday. Halloween is coming, Andrew & Nellie already picked their costume dress at the mid of the September. This year, Andrew wants to be a Racer. Nellie will dress herself like a Barbie. Charles still not sure what he wants to be yet. We went to a store last night (Sep. 30)after his Spanish class, but, he didn't find any interesting item. Well, Charles has to make up his mind by himself. I am sure he'll find a good one before mid of October. Happy Halloween!

Monday

We live in California and now is the time of year when you can open the doors and turn off the air conditioning. The air feels and smells like it's time to go camping and I guess in a way that's our kids planning to do. I talked to my husband Edward a few times, but he doesn't seem to be has too much free time to offer to us. No matter what, Fall is here. At this harvest season, we are quite exciting for all the coming up events & holiday.

Our Charles birthday party will be held on this coming Saturday afternoon. I am going to have a Jumping Bouncer Party for him. He is going to be 7 years old now. He is the only one that so far we still have to work very hard on his behavior problems in our family. He has problem to focus. But we still don't want to miss the chance to show him our love at his birthday. I'll pass over the invitation to his friends tomorrow at school. I haven't sure the exact time that when should we start the party. Due to we have to participate two soccer games plus this coming Saturday is the Soccer Team's Picture Day as well. Charles & Andrew have to take their Soccer Team Group & Individual Photo at that morning. But eventually I'll figure it out.

We had a busy weekend again. Since every year the soccer season starts around late August or early September, we have to committe to play two soccer games on every Saturday. Most of time there's conflict with our kids Chinese school time, but we still have to keep them stick with the soccer first. Because it's only last 2 & half months only. Last Saturday after the soccer games, we had a nice Mexican BBQ chicken at El Pollo Loco. We went to Home Depot to buy the painting for our front gate. We were planning to find a painter to do the touch up painting for us in the first place, but after I made a few calls to the local painters & I just realized that no one really interested to do such a small project. Luckily I met a painter in front of the Chinese School while I send Andrew to his school. I asked him the problem that I encountered, then the painter taught me what should I do & how to buy the right painting & tool. From there he convinced me to do it by myself. That's why we stopped by the Home Depot after our lunch last Saturday. I just did the 1/4 of the project on Sunday evening. I'll finish the whole thing hopefully by this Thursday.

Edward has been very involved to Charles's Go Game Class. Now he modify his weekend working schedule, in stead work on Saturday & Sunday. He kind of working from home on Saturday & go to office on Sunday morning at 9:00am & leave the work at 1:00pm. That way, he can take Charles to take Go Game Class. Usually we meet Edward at the half way point, which is at the parking lot of the El Torito Mexican Restaurant at West Covina. Charles is at the Level II class now. With Edward's extra efforts to work through the Go Game theory & home work with Charles every night plus additional hand-on Lab hour at home. Charles has been getting quite good compliment from his teacher, Mr. Steven Tang. Thanks, Edward. Edward is the magic hand at Charles's back. Without Edward to push Charles to break through all the "hot spot", I guess Charles himself will quit to play this Go Fame in a second. After all, this is not the video game.

Every Sunday afternoon, Edward always has to delay to take his lunch till the Go Game Break or the class finish. That's around 2:30pm or 3:30pm. Anyway, I have to give Edward a big applause. He is a super daddy. We have to also thanks God & our children to make me & Edeard to become a better parent. Our kids learning from us everyday, so do we. We also learning to read their mind everyday.

Last night, I made a coffee cake while our kids working on their own activities. When the cake ready was also their break time. That was about 9:30pm. We had a tea party & family meeting. You can imagine the full house is blended with all the cinnamon, sugar, butter, milk smell, that was so romantic. The cake came out very perfect & taste yummy! We had a wonderful night together. That was another wonderful weekend.

Monday

It's another busy weekend! We had no time to celebrate Charles's coming up birthday! Edward told me not to push too hard to myself. He is always so nice to me. Well, but still feel guilty if I don't do anything for our Charles. It's his BIG Day!! Seven Years Old!! Even though he already picked the Pokey mon Game for his birthday gift on September 14. For now, I can only plan to arrange a small party at home on his birthday, which this coming Thursday.

Our Nellie is 4 years old now. She is a amazing girl in many ways. She is very calm, gentle & sweet. She always finish her homework before the deadline & well behave herself. Edward is so proud of Nellie. He really thanks for God giving us such wonderful daughter.

Of course, Andrew & Charles are great as well. But boys just different than girl though. Andrew finally seems to be more close to his new teacher- Ms. Aquino. He been talked to me so many time in September that his teacher doesn't like him. When Andrew told me that, I saw the tears on his eyes. But I never heard from Ms. Aquino that Andrew had anything wrong at school though. Finally, last Wednesday, Oct. 8, I talked to Ms. Aquino at Andrew's classroom & discussed with her about our Andrew's feeling. That was a positive conversation. At least I know, the following day on Thursday & Friday, that Andrew was doing great at school. I told Ms. Aquino that Andrew is a very sensitive boy. If anything hurt his feeling at home, he'll hide himself in the corner of the kitchen or in the closet that no one can find him. He cannot take anyone if yell to him. I guess at Junior Kinder. class, Andrew's teacher-Ms. Garcia was a very passionate lady. Now at Kinder. class, Ms. Aquino is totally different personality than Ms. Garcia. Andrew had hard time to adapt his new teacher. After I spent about 30 minutes to talk to Ms. Aquino. I felt Andrew is much understand that his teacher is loves him.

I still remembered in September, right after the new semester started this year. At the first couple days of the school, I kept getting note from school about our Andrew, the school teacher told me that Andrew was still tried to go back to his Junior K. playground or classroom. He was very upset that teachers at the playground were not allowed him to visit his old time play ground. He was crying at school in the first day morning when daddy left. Because daddy thought Andrew will know that he now is at kinder. class. But, for what ever reason, Andrew was found by a music teacher at the school & according to the note from the school that Andrew was still trying to go back to his Junior Kinder. class. Well, that's our little Andrew. He needs more training to adapt the new class. Andrew is a boy with a tender, sweet heart. He is our gift from God.

How about Charles? Well, our Charles is a little tricky boy. He has problem focus in the classroom. According to his teacher, Charles is like a daydreamer in the classroom. Sometimes, his hand, feet not to himself. Me & Edward just took Charles to our family doctor last Friday. We are now in the process to request a complete ADHD test for Charles. Charles is a very smart boy. But his mostly smart for his own goods. Edward told me if we cannot correct his behavior or working habit in the first place, no matter how much efforts that I put on Charles, will be a waste. But, I know Charles is mostly a good boy. He just wants to receive more interesting contend to attract him.

When I was young, no one had ever heard of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). But now it appears to be a popular diagnosis for hyperactive children who also have short attention spans (much to the relief of their parents, who thought something might be wrong with their parenting skills).

Do you think ADHD is truly a "disorder"? Or is it a new condition that results from the large amount of time children spend watching TV and movies and playing computer games, all of which involve the presentation of increasing degrees of violence in short, high-action sequences? Anyway, this is our new task. Me & Edward have to spend more time to figure out more about how can we assist Charles to become a better person. I recently went a web site at www.adhd.com , there are lots of the parents like me & Edward. We felt we are not alone.

Halloween is coming. Charles already got his costume dress, that's exactly like Andrew- a racer, but Charles got green, verses Andrew got red. This coming Wednesday night will be the first Pack Meeting for Charles's Cub Scout. I bought him the nice cub scout uniform last Wednesday on the way home. He was very exciting & looking forward to join this fun club. Andrew & Nellie told me that they would like to be one of the cub scout as well when they hit to first grade. Our little Nellie now is a very talkative girl. She always tell me "Mommy, I wish I can have... when I become a teenager.." or "Can you share .... with me, when I become a teenager?" I went grocery shopping with her last night & she was acted like a big buyer at the super market. She talked to me like this "Mommy, come here, come. Smell it! Can you buy it?" or "Mommy, can you buy this one for me, please? My friend had this, that taste good." "Mommy, I like this one, that's very yummy. Can we buy it." "Mommy, this is not smell good. Take it back. Don't buy it."

I told Edward last night that I better watch out what I said to Nellie. She is just too smart to her age. She sounds like a 7 years old girl. She is amazing. Nellie & Charles are our wonderful gifts from God. We learn lots of the new things from our children. They are just so different in many ways. We love each of them equally. Life is so beautiful with all these challenges.

Tuesday

Due to Charles going to attend his first Cub Scout PACK meeting at Suzann Middle school at 6:30pm tomorrow, I just rescheduled my eyes touch up Lasik surgery to this Friday at 7:15pm with Dr. Lin's office.

Also, I just remembered that Charles has a Soccer Team's Pizza Party after their soccer practice at 6:00pm this Friday. I told the Team Mom-Nancy last week, that I'll order an ice cream birthday cake for the team members to celebrate Charles's birthday at the party. Even though me & Edward are so busy at work & home. But I still like to let Charles understand that we really care about his 7 years old birthday. I know when everybody at the party to sing the :Happy Birthday to Charles;, Charles will be very happy!

I need to remind myself to bring the match & candle on Friday. Also, Andrew & Nellie will go to the party as well. By the way, I need to give Edward the camera, it・s still in my bag. I hope even though I will miss the party, but I can still see the pictures. So, I・ll take our kids from the Soccer Field to Edward's office. From there Edward will be the one take our 3 kids to go for the party. I・ll go home & ask my mother to give me a ride to the Dr. LIn's office. I estimate Charles's pizza/ birthday party will be over at 8:00pm. I asked Edward to pick me up around 8:00pm-8:30pm after their party. I told him just leave the kids in the car & go inside of the office to find out if I done the surgery. If I finish early, I・ll call edward or if when Edward arrive the office but I still not finish, then Edward & kids should just wait in the car. I don't want to see our kids mess up their clinic. When we head home this Friday night, I just have to go to bed room to sleep & Daddy-Edward have to take care all the bed time story & have everybody go to bed early on Friday.

Saturday Andrew・s Soccer game is start at 10:00am. I don・t think that he can go to Chinese School. But Charles & Nellie has no problem to go to Chinese School. Charles's soccer game only have 4 times left. His schedule is all starts at 2:00pm. This soccer season is almost over now. I・ll take Andrew to Soccer game this Saturday if my next day follow up appointment with Dr. Lin has no conflict at that time. Otherwise, Edward have to on duty again. Say if I can take Andrew to Soccer game, then I・ll meet Edward at home around 11:30am & we can go together to pick up Charles & Nellie. We・ll have lunch at the same Chinese Restaurant we did last time. Edward will take Charles to his soccer game at 2:00pm. I guess if the sun is too much, I don・t think it・s good for me to go. Especially right after the eyes surgery. I・ll stay home with Andrew & Nellie this Saturday. I guess Alan will show up at 4:30pm as usual & we・ll have a nice dinner birthday party at home for Charles. This is our plan for this weekend! Life is busy but full of fun!

By the way, last night I bought the surprise gifts to Charles & Andrew. Charles got his Poke Mon Game, the Ruby Version& Andrew received the accessory of the race car's contro wheeler & brake to work with their Game Cube. Charles cannot open the gift till his birthday, this coming Thursday. Andrew used his 10 stars to exchange his dream gift. We had a good night yesterday.

Friday

What a busy week! I bought total 3 birthday cakes for my eldest son Charles's birthday. I got one Raspberry Mousse Cake, one Chocolate Chips ice cream cake & one passion fruit mousse cake. We had Alan came to our home around 8:00pm to sing happy birthday for Charles birthday. That was last Thursday. Since that was school day, we didn't plan to do any special for him. The next day (last Friday) we had a pizza party at Graziano's Pizza Restaurant in Pomona. Charles was had a big fun party with his soccer team plays & coaches. Our Nellie, Andrew & Daddy-Edward were all attended the party but me. I was had my touch up eye surgery done at 8:30pm. They came to pick me up after the party & they were with me when I had my Lasik touch up surgery. It was 100% successful this time. Now my eyes vision is close to perfect. I am very happy!

We had another celebration for Charles's birthday last Saturday evening. I went to couple different restaurants bought different To Go Food for our dinner party. I enjoy cooking but I have no time to do it. We had a good time with our neighbor Eric, Christina & Alan again. The party was for Charles's birthday but that was also our first "Adult Happy Hour", too! Since I been enrolled to the red wine club in August this year, officially, I have invited Eric, Christina & Edward to be my guest of my monthly wine tasting party. At this moment, we don't have too fancy wine glass, but later when we have better taste, we might get something better...

Here's a little memo for the wine we tasted last Saturday night.

EOS Estate Merlot ( Year 2000)

Description

This Merlot has clean, blossomy aromas of cherry and plum, enhanced by spicy notes of mint and anise. The finish is superbly textured with firm acidity, silky tannins and ripe berry flavors leading to a lingering, mocha and nutty finish.

Enjoyable now, this Merlot has the potential to improve for seven or eight years. Try this appealing wine with beef or lamb in herb sauces, or just for sipping with a cheese and nut selection.

Alcohol Content, Alcohol 13.9% -- pH 3.53 -- Total Acid .72 g/100ml

Novella Estate Sangiovese ( Year 2000)

Description

In the style of a Chianti Classico from Italy, this wine has a polished balance of fruit, spice and structure. Garnet colored with a slightly brickish cast, the aroma is dominated by perfumy notes of plumeria and rose petal.

Ripe, fruity notes of strawberry and sloe berry mingle with spicy cinnamon and a pecan nuttiness. Medium-bodied with firm acidity, the wine offers plum and malt flavors with a lingering, mocha aftertaste.

Alcohol Content ,Alcohol 12.9% -- pH 3.85 -- Total Acid .64g/100ml

This week is also an important week for our Charles. After so many researches & discussions with many sources, Edward & me took him to see a ADHD specialist-DR. Brown for two hours on Tuesday afternoon. After the long discussion with Dr. Brown, me & Edward decided to have Charles to take the medication for his ADHD issue. Charles has started to take the medication this Wednesday, Oct. 22.

At the Day one on 10/22/2003 Wednesday 7:45am

I spent about 15 minutes just to ask Charles to take that medicine. I don't want to scare him. I told him that's a "Happy Vitamin". Later at the end of the school day, I talked to his teacher-Ms. Rahmanian, she told me just said "Vitamin" will be a better term. I took her advice at the following day. She told me that she didn't feel any change happened to school at school. But on Wednesday night, he was very unusually finished all his extra work & school home work. We don't know if that was just a coincident. We feel he was focus on doing his work better at the first night.

At the Day two on 10/23/2003 Thursday 7:55am

Charles had no problem to take that "Vitamin". I called his school teacher at 3:20pm, but she told me probably she got too many distraction from all the kids in the class, she didn't feel any change happen to Charles. I told the teacher about what Charles behavior changed last night & also asked her if she can move Charles to the first line of the classroom, since doctor Brown suggested that it's better the Adder sit in the front, so it won't get too many distraction from others. Charles was very nice when I got home last night. He read the books with me & played Go Game with daddy. He played 10 minutes computer & went to bed at 9:30pm. Well, we haven't see any dramatically change to Charles, but we just have to be patient. May God bless Charles & supply all his need.

Wednesday

Edward is out for 3 days training this week (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday). He is now at the hotel in Irvine (One & half hour driving from our home at the traffic time) for a training meeting. He comes home every night though.

It・s our noon time now& I just received one instant message pup-up on my screen to say :Happy Birthday!; to me & a few minutes later I received the following e-mail from Edward. He paid to the hotel US$15 just for this e-mail service & he mentioned on the e-mail that he will not let the company pay for this charge but himself to pay for it. Well, that・s our Edward. He never figuare out how to control the cost. Anyway, he is coming home tonight & our family are going out for my birthday celebration. I didn・t know this plan till this e-mail arrived.

What did I got from Edward this year? Besides the surprise dinner party & over 10 wrapped gifts from Edward at last Saturday, he bought me one of the latest high end model Laptop computer from Dell Computer, it come with DVD, largest hard drive, memory, etc. It costs $2799. I told Edward that he should keep that newer laptop computer for himself but give me the one that he is using, which is another new model (6 month old) Acer PC tablet laptop computer. That tablet was cost around $1,900.

Don・t you think Edward is a wonderful husband! J Here・s the expensive e-mail for you to view it.

May you sharing our Love!! Love is better than gold!!

Subject: Happy Birthday from Edward

I bet you heard a lot about 'Happy Birthday' already. This happy birthday message cost only $15.00 for me to gain Internet Access at the Hotel.

I bought the Dell Notebook computer intended for you as a birthday gift and I even told Roger to put this as my personal expense. I even name the notebook machine name as LWLDELL. But instead you had asked for my Acer Tablet. OK, you can have the Acer Tablet as the birthday gift instead. Just remember, the machine name for the Acer Tablet is EMKACER.

This notebook computer is also the one that I want to take with us on the airplane so our kids can watch DVD movies. It come with an extra battery and the notebook can last for a long time.

I talked to mom this morning so she knew tonight we are going out. Since today is Wednesday, it's perfect to take our kids to El Torito for celebration tonight, alright? I love you. I'll see you later. Happy Birthday.
